Review of Pride & Prejudice

Pride and Prejudice (2005) is a dramatic and romantic movie based on “Pride and Prejudice” story by Jane Austen. I’m a huge fan of drama and of course this movie is not just a drama; it’s really engrossing and honestly informative. I learned something practical and valuable about different characters, relationships, or even love and fall in love, about proud people and fanatical people and how they suffer because of their characters
During the late 18th century, the Bennet family, Mr. Bennet (played by Donald Sutherland) and Mrs. Bennet (played by Brenda Blethyn) and their five daughters Jane (played by Rosamund Pike), Elizabeth (played by Keira Knightley), Mary, Kitty and Lydia (played by Jena Malone) live at Longbourn, a farm in a village in England. They don’t have any son for inherit their fortune, and because of that Mr. Collins (played by Tom Hollander), as a relative, would inherit Longborn after Mr. Bennet’s death. Mrs. Bennet think if all her daughters get married, she would be at ease. Charles Bingly (played by Simon Woods), as a gentleman with a big fortune, has recently moved into Netherfield, near Longbourn with his haughty sister Caroline (played by Kelly Reily) and his proud friend Darcy (played by Matthew Macfadyen). Bingly falls in love with Jane. Elizabeth takes an instant dislike to Darcy after he coldly refuses her attempts at conversation and later she hears about him insulting her and of course destroying Bingly and Jane’s relation. She hears all from George Wickham (played by Rupert Friend), a gentleman, that seemingly Elizabeth pays attention to him but then she clearly avoids him. Maybe she puts aside her prejudice. And she surprisingly falls in love with Darcy who pays money to Wickham to marry Lydia, Elizabeth’s younger sister. Lady Catherine De Bourgh (played by Judi Dench), Darcy’s arrogant aunt, warns Elizabeth not to accept Darcy’s demand but she refuses. In the end, fortunately they get married
This movie directed by Joe Wright. If you enjoy dramatic movies with unexpectedly falling in love I suggest this movie. Or if you enjoy a movie that for every dialogue you have to think to understand the meaning, again I recommend Pride & Prejudice
